Dual Monitor "heads"
First my setup: Dell R720 with a single GRID K1 Card XenServer 6.2 SP1 Windows 7 VMs using Driver 332.83 with K140Q vGPU Profiles I've been running with this setup for months and have had no general performance issues with the vGPU performance. Our needs include virtualizing some OpenGL applications and we've been using VNC and NoMachine to connect to the VMs (not ideal, but it works). What I'd like to know specifically is how does one "enable" a second monitor on a vGPU? Documents going back to 2013 list the number of "Virtual Display heads" each vGPU profile type can support (see page 3 of: [url]http://us.download.nvidia.com/Windows/Quadro_Certified/GRID/312.56/312.56-nvidia-quadro-control-panel-quick-start-guide.pdf[/url]). According to this, the K140Q profile I use should support 2 "virtual display heads." After doing quite a bit of searching/digging around, it seems one of the prerequisites is updating the GRID card's BIOS, which I did (see: [url]http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverid=1YCT8[/url]) The NVIDIA control panel presents options for enabling multiple monitors with the vGPU driver, but only one "monitor" is shown as available. It's handled in the Citrix session, so two quick questions. Do you have a second monitor connected to the client device? Does it use both monitors if you connect to a non GPU VM? Citrix info on multi-monitors. http://support.citrix.com/proddocs/topic/receiver-windows-40/ica-multiple-monitors.html

Yes, the client device has a 2 physical monitors connected to it. I guess what I'm hoping for is an equivalent experience to connecting to a VM with a GPU passthrough configuration. For example, if I created a passthrough GPU VM with a Quadro K4000 or whatever, and physically connected two monitors to two physical ports on that card (or forced EDID settings in the Nvidia Control Panel), then when connecting via VNC or NoMachine, I would be presented with two independent monitors/display heads on the client machine. Just wondering if there is a way to force a second "display head" on a vGPU VM somehow.

In that case, what you're looking for isn't possible.

ASC, HP seems to has a internal utility called ForceEDIDs.exe that allows you to add virtual/fake displays to VMs. Look at this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M4zeWD_dmM4 NVIDIA also has a method to setup up fake displays using EDID information on NVIDIA Control Panel, but it is not available for GRID vGPUs profiles. Did you solve your problem? I didn't solve mine yet. I'm using HP RGS to access remote VMs with GRID cards and XenServer 6.2 sp1 on a Dell R720.

That's my video ;) This method will not work with Citrix, and HP are busy updating their code so this isn't necessary either on HP RGS. It may work with other protocols, but it's completely unsupported.
