Tesla V100 with vSphere 6.0 and Horizon View 7.4
Hello! We've recently installed a Tesla V100 PCIe card into a VMware ESXi host. The vGPU driver package installed was a 6.4 version from NVIDIA Enterprise portal site and installed for VMware vSphere 6.0 U3 (Update 3). We're intending to use the vGPU (aiming for v100-2q profile) in a Horizon View 7.4 environment. The performance from that card has been disappointing. The VM in question is a Windows 10 v1709 and experimented with 2 to 4 vCPUs and 8GB RAM. Video playback and various Windows animations have been quite laggy. The end-goal is to provide a "video editing" capability for our remote video editors. The software package is primarily Adobe Creative Cloud (currently version 2019). The footage/files that we tend to edit is a 1080i XDCAM MXF media. The ESXi host in question is a HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9 server with a dual CPU (@ 2.30GHz), 256 GB RAM, iSCSI connection to a NetApp FAS storage. The Tesla V100 card currently has the ECC memory disabled. Please advise if there are any tweaks or settings to look for to optimize the VM. Thank you! Kobu
